There is so much I should be doing right now: shopping, wrapping, cooking, cleaning. But I am sitting here in my comfy chair, with a dog curled in my lap, listening to the noises of my kids entertaining themselves; Christian watching ESPN and Max discovering good fortune in the pantry–Doritos and Cheetos.
I am feeling the first quiet waves of peace in an otherwise frenzied time. Life, if I hadn’t noticed lately, is so good. We are healthy. We are happy. We are surrounded by love and support. I can see how much I’ve taken that for granted.
It’s good to be still.
