Highlights from the weekend

May 21st, 2007
  • Making the annual trek to Orem to buy our summer flowers.
  • Planting the summer flowers.
  • Trying to talk with Ryan while he was listening to his iPod.
  • Going to dinner with the Smiths at Faustina. The tale of the restaurant’s inspiration on the backside of the menu is precious.
  • Asking our waiter to rate his friendship with a fellow waiter.
  • Asking the fellow waiter to rate his friendship with our waiter.
  • Telling our waiter that his friend rated their friendship a 10, while he only rated it an 8.5.
  • Driving to Mrs. Smith’s childhood home and using Mrs. Smith’s mom’s bathroom.
  • Driving to my childhood home and introducing Mr. and Mrs. Smith to Mr. and Mrs. Mom and Dad.
  • Driving past Ryan’s childhood home, where he reminded us, once again, that his parents are dead and we can’t introduce them.
  • Making German pancakes not once, but TWICE over the weekend.
  • Making corn and black bean salsa with lots of cilantro.
  • Visiting with neighbors now that the earth has thawed and people are outside again.
  • Going to Emily’s house for a little party. Now we’re real-life friends and not just internet friends.
  • Evacuating the church when the fire alarm went off. (No real fire.)
  • Sitting on my porch and basking in the warm air.
  • Watching the Jazz game with Ryan, Christian, Max and Vanessa.
  • Sitting on the Smith’s porch eating a slice of mind-blowing chocolate cake.
  • Watching Max’s tiny figure running out in the grassy ball field.
  • Walking home in the warm, dark evening to my lamplit house.
