Everything I Know About History I Learned at the Movies

March 21st, 2007

Okay, so I finished watching Marie Antoinette and now I know why all of those peasants in Les Miserables might have been just a bit displeased with their spendy queen. It’s unfortunate that they couldn’t have seen this movie, however, and realized that she was actually pretty nice and authentic, and became an unfortunate victim of propaganda. And perhaps it’s even more unfortunate that Marie Antoinette couldn’t have seen their movie, or at least listened to the Broadway soundtrack.

It’s a crying shame.

All that aside, it’s a good movie and an absolute visual feast.
