After a lovely Christmas and a fantastic day-after Christmas, I’m getting the itch to be back into a routine. I’ll begin simplifying the house by throwing away un-eaten Christmas goodies and taking down the gawby Christmas decor. I’m ready for a normal schedule, regular food, and all my furniture back where it belongs. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas. It’s the best ever. It’s just that once the sun sets on the 25th, I’m ready to turn the lights out and wake up to a post-Christmas world. I’m not a lingerer.
I’ve also sufficiently disgusted myself with the amount of food I’ve managed to shovel into my face over the past few weeks. I’m done. I’m ready for carrot sticks and fat-free popcorn. I’m totally in the mood to feel hungry.
Actually, I’m in the mood for all manner of fresh starts: organization, bed times, vitamins, closet cleaning, carpet cleaning, D.I. drives, vacuuming out the cars, pilates, reading, introspection, exfoliation, and regular flossing. I looked in the mirror a few weeks ago, and I was staring at someone who was starting to look (and don’t rebuke me here, these are my feelings)…..old. I’m almost thirty and that means it’s time to start freaking out about things that don’t matter to younger people. You know, like fiber and hip replacements.
So, tomorrow, I’m all over it. I’m getting back into the drivers seat, headed toward inner balance and youthful vigor. I’m going to be ready for 2007 before 2007 even shows up. Right after I polish off that box of chocolates I just opened, stay up late watching TV, and sleep in until Max wakes me up in a starving frenzy by hefting a gallon of milk onto my drooling chin, of course. Right after that.
Glad you’re back!!! I’ve missed my daily wbwg dose. I have many similar goals. I will start them right after my sick baby starts sleeping through the night and my husband starts having time at home. So, basically in about 18 months!
I’m glad you’re back, too, and if you look over your shoulder, way out there on the horizon, you may see a little stumbling spec. That would be me, following in your footsteps, trying to get the old motor revved up again. I agree, it’s time to move ahead. Right after NYE. And NY day. And the rest of that week. Yep, I’m right behind you.
I’m a total wannabe member of WBWG. Maybe that should be one of my “fresh starts” for the year. Accepting applications? I love reading your entries.
