Last night at 9:51, I graduated from college.
I attached my freshly finished paper to an email addressed to my instructor and stared at the screen. Christian was standing next to me.
“Send it,” he said.
“I can’t believe it,” I said.
“Can’t believe what?”
“Can’t believe I’m done.”
“Want me to click ’send’ for you?”
“Sure.”
He clicked it.
Then we celebrated in the traditional way—
We went to Target.
I hope they gave you the College Graduate discount. Hey congratulations!!! Soon, you’ll be the 2nd most famous Utah graduate, (next to Alex Smith). Hope your career goes better than his…
Congrats. Are you going to walk and get your diploma and all of that jazz? I didnt do that when I graduated, and now I wish I would have gotten all dressed up in that gown and taken at least one picture. You know, for my posterity.
I have to agree with James on this one. I also graduated in December which usually means you have to come back in April for commencement. We were living in Logan, we were poor and it seemed like such a hassle–and somewhat meaningless. But now in retrospect, I wish I’d have put on the cap and gown and all that. Heck, I didn’t even throw a party.
Pomp and ceremony help to bring closure to your schooling efforts. Otherwise you don’t really feel like you have graduated it’s just another day.
What an accomplishment!!! I’m so happy for you! We can celebrate when you come to AZ by…. shopping
How else would you celebrate the occasion?!
I agree with the pomp and ceremony thing….brings it all to an official close in your own mind.
Just don’t too bug-eyed or excited by those cool over-the-shoulder thingies that the Masters and PhD guys are wearing. They’re so fancy. And cool….almost made me want to get another degree. [shudder the thought!]
congrats!
this deserves a celebration!!!! And since you graduated from my preferred alma mater, I think you deserve a block U red velvet cake! I wonder how that would survive the mail. . . .
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I’m a proud mama.
What an accomplishment especially considering all the other things you do so well
like being a mom, a wife, a friend, an employee, a neighbor, a writer, a party thrower, a web site owner, a shopper, a church goer, an aunt, a sister and sister-in-law, a daughter. I admire all you are and do. If you want to celebrate again in the traditional way, call me.
